This book aims to present Dr. Ghassemlou to English-language readers from his Democratic Socialism perspective, which is largely absent from existing literature.
The central part of this book is a chapter devoted to Dr. Ghassemlou’s theory of Democratic Socialism. This chapter begins with an extensive introduction that serves both as a contextual framework and as a guided reading of the theory itself. It also includes an English translation of Dr. Ghassemlou’s A Treatise on Socialism; a translated speech in which he explains and defends his treatise; and a translation of his address concerning the relations between the capitalist and socialist blocs in the 5 context of the late 1980s peace and democratization processes. This chapter is followed by a summary of Dr. Ghassemlou’s doctoral work, Kurdistan and the Kurds.

About the author
Reza Fathollahnejad, who serves as editor, translator, and contributing author of the book, Ghassemlou, The Messenger of Peace: With Emphasis on His Democratic Socialism, is a Kurdish journalist and political analyst with direct, on-the-ground experience. He served as a member of the editorial board of the official publication of one of the most influential parties in Kurdistan and Iran from 2005 to 2012, and contributed to Kurdish political discourse through broadcast media, hosting a television program on TISHK TV (now Kurd Channel). With an academic background in philosophy, he brings his critical perspective to his writing on politics.
